Maritsa ( Barbus albanicus) of Lake Pamvotis
Found in lakes and rivers from Southern Albania to Northwestern Greece and the Peloponnese, Maritsa is a freshwater migrant (potamodromous) species,
She is a refugee, like so many other, human and non-human, across all species, all peoples.
All are confronted by the same fate: driven into flight by war, pollution, poverty, abuse, and exploitation.
Thus Maritsa crosses rivers and lakes, striving to evade the inevitable: the permanent disappearance of her kind, sacrificed upon the altar of profit and greed.
